Week 4 Blog Post

During Week 4's classes, we primarily focused on what makes a good lesson. We took a peak at last week's plant growing and seeing the progression with that to start the lab, and then we identified the 5E Model for lessons. The five E's being Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate. We did two activities in class with our table mates, and what we did was created a PowerPoint slide that explained each of the 5E's separately, then at the end, creating a table combining them all together and clarifying the teacher and student roles for each of the E's. Additionally, we had our first Exam during lecture, and I think it went pretty well. It covered most of the material that was discussed from Week 1-3, so I am hoping that my retention for knowledge of the topics was well enough to get a good score. I look forward to next week's classes.

Week 3 Blog Post

For Week 3, I unfortunately was not able to make it to the lab portion of class. However, what I took from the lecture part was why we really need to learn about photosynthesis and the importance of it. The week prior, we put watered seeds and cotton balls in a red cup, and although I do not have the current progress of what that looks like now, I'm intrigued to potentially see it and hear about it from my fellow group mates on Wednesday. We also had a special guest come into the classroom at the beginning of the lecture to introduce us to the School of the Wild and when we get to go in our groups later this semester! I'm excited for that day to go and learn some new things I may have never seen/heard of before. Lastly, to end the lecture, we browsed a little bit on the BiomeViewer tool you can see above, and it is really interesting to scroll on that. Overall, I'm intrigued for this week of class...
